Suckerpunches of mortality

My grandfather's heart stopped tonight.  They have it restarted, but the illusion of continuity has been breached and I don't know how many beats he has left.

...that's pretty much the only thought I can muster right now.

I'm sending good thoughts to you and your family.

Thank you. He's doing better. It's going to be a long road to recovery, but at least the road is there.

My thoughts are with you and your family tonight, and have been since I saw this.

The most amusing part of all of this: in the rush to restart his heart, they discarded (and appear to have misplaced) his dentures. The poor man has been gummy and mummbly ever since and he's had them so long we're not even sure who to go to for replacements! The man is mostly lucid, but it's not like he's in shape for an inquiry into his dental contacts. :-P We've been reduced to a small whiteboard (and say what you will about old-time schooling, they drilled some _good_ penmanship into those students...makes me embarassed about my own).
