herewiss13Energy is a weird thing, especially when you're talking about performance energy. What you can fake, what you can make, what you can take from an audience...and what can't be bought for love or money.
Tonight's performance at the Hult Center (our large civic performance art space) was good. But the intensity wasn't there. Performing in a new space, larger than the Cabaret, for only the third time after a 5 week run...it's draining. We'll probably rally tomorrow for closing night, but I have no idea how I'm going to drag anything more than an adequate, cover-the-numbers performance out of my body for the matinee. Musical theater was not meant to be performed in the mid-afternoon...especially not while experiencing a mild but ever increasing sleep debt.
And having my two, twin, 4 year old cousins down for the weekend is certainly not going to help that sleep debt either.
...I guess this means I'd better go to bed now.
