For some reason have been _completely_ null about posting lately. I think it has to do with actually having the vestiges of a life...maybe. Certain I keep _composing_ LJ entries in my head, I just never get around to typing them up.

Anyway, this is just a quick one. We'll get to the latest T.V. shows, books and my apparently existant love-life later.

Just finished a book-on-tape entitled "1066: The Year of the Conquest". Fascinating book taking a contemporary view of the events of the year (no source used was written more than 200 years after the event). They started on New Years Day, looked at typical life and the activities of various kings and all the stuff that moved along inevitably to the Battle of Hastings. Hastings happened on Secundus Octobrus which, in the Julian Calendar was Oct 14th. But the Julian calendar had a 6 day error, so it was actually Oct 20th.

Guess which day it was when I finally listened to the actual account of the battle? I'm telling you, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up.

Today is St. Crispian's Day. As in Shakespeare's famous "We few, we happy few, we band of brothers" St. Crispian's day. Shakespeare gives King Henry this speech just before the battle of Agincourt, where a small English Army (with lots of longbows) slaughtered a _huge_ French army of mounted knights.

Guess which audiobook I just _happened_ to start today (completely at random, honest!).

...It's starting to weird me out a bit.
