Home from a weekend spent house sitting at the old homestead. It's amazing how much life even an old lazy dog brings to a house...and how much you miss it when it's gone.

Saw a good western that I highly recommend. "Purgatory" (1999) which features Sam Shepard. It's actually a blend of Western and Magical Realism, as a group of bandits accidentally ride into a town of dead people being given one last shot at redemption. Many Western Legends and religious symbolism. Works nicely as a "shoot 'em up" and as a religious fantasy.

Seeing a counselor for depression, after several sessions he's begun introducing me to "Energy Psychology" and "applied kinesthesiology". My deeply entrenched inner skeptic is in full revolt. While there are some interesting mind/body neuromuscular parlor tricks involved, I don't buy the whole "energy field body" thing as anything more than a metaphor.

I'm perfectly willing to concede that some of these exercises will boost my energy levels, I'll just need a lot more data in order to accept his explanation as to why.

I'm hoping this doesn't become a problem.

In other news, finally hooked up with K., the gal I mentioned earlier (in connection with my evil brother). We went hiking around the local arboretum on Sunday. Enormously foggy, but quite fun. Also, quite steep. I'm still feeling the hike in my calves and ankles. The relationship is, for a variety of factors, likely to remain 100% platonic, but you win a few, you lose a few.

::shrug::

At least it'll help to get me out and about.
