herewiss13Spent the day at the old homestead trying to sort out a scanner that fell into our laps by happy circumstance.
Argh!
The scanner came with a cable that would only link it to the printer, the USB cable the printer uses wouldn't work for the scanner, all the permutations I could think of in terms of parallel or serial cable linkage came to nothing. Could not get a response from the scanner.
Very frustrating.
On the plus side, took an hour and watched an old McGyver episode. Was actually too young to really follow the show, but I've always been fond of the occasional show I've caught. This one was no exception but my god the dialogue was awful.
No one deadpans like Richard Dean Anderson, though.
Eep. I've just turned the milestone of 10 friends! I've no idea how people cope with 50+.
I was going to do a whole cut-piece thing of my 'Showtime' thoughts, but there's been a 2 1/2 hour hiatus between this sentence and the last one, so here's two non-spoiler things:
1) Andrew is pathetic...in a literary sense, and they're doing a very good job making him so. I was initially not happy with him being the one surviving trio-member, but it works quite well. He's the anti-Scooby, an individual without the strength to do penance or actively redeem themselves. I think he'll probably survive everything, but he'll never earn the right to be called "good".
2) I'm really liking the whole "passel of slayerettes" thing. It works quite well and I'll be glad to see more of it. Some have criticized the bunch for having no character, but it's early yet and there are a lot of them...give it a little time.
And finally, my Brother the policy-wonk has told me "culpablize" is a word, as in "to make culpable". This scares me a great deal. I'm hoping the LJ spellchecker won't accept it.
