So I've set out to get my own copy of the entire Peter Wimsey series, temporarily shutting the door on that particular mini-obsession. I decided to get used copies only of the latest Harper reprints, for the petty and shallow reason that I like their Art-Deco sketch/logo of Wimsey's head and want some uniformity to the collection.

Oddly enough, Harper reprinted every one of the Wimsey books _except_ "The Nine Tailors." I couldn't find the cover I wanted on Amazon anywhere, so I checked the HarperCollins website itself to make sure. No dice.

If you're reprinting a series, why on earth would you leave out a book (and a fairly popular one, if I recall correctly) from the middle? Is it a rights issue? Some prejudice against church bells?

Very puzzling stuff indeed.

...so, anyway, my collection will have a discontinuity in it now. :-(

Do communists actually still exist outside North Korea and Cuba?

I'm also fairly certain the Jews have better things to do than prevent the publishing of one book within a series.;-)

It is weird, though. It's like someone re-issuing the Chronicles of Narnia without "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader"...you've got to wonder what they were thinking.
