Because all the cool kids are doing it...

1. If it's not heavy/technical material, I read about 2 pages a minute, give or take.

2. Back in 2nd grade I read all the Dr. Doolittle books. They were just big enough that I could finish one, flip it back over and start again from the beginning right away.

3. I love reading to people.

4. I once convinced my high school jazz choir that a driftwood log was a Pacific Saltwater Crocodile hibernating on the surface. It's my crowning glory of geeky-pranks. It's also an object lesson on how reading can turn you into an authority figure to those around you.

5. If I'm not very careful, chronic clinical depression wallops me upside the head and I go into apathy-mode. It's quite a bit like what bears do...almost hibernation but not quite. Except without the rolls of stored fat at the beginning. Those come later.

6. I'm such a bio-nerd, I actually had to go look up the word for what bears do, since it isn't "true" hibernation. The word is most likely "torpor", though I'd thought there was a more technical term for it. I may have to look more in-depth later.

7. I'm convinced theater is the only thing that kept the depression was manifesting itself during high school.

8. I prefer male vocal ensembles to female vocal ensembles (mostly), but I prefer female vocal soloists, because I don't have to listen critically to them and compare/contrast them to my own modest abilities.

9. I love to ballroom dance, but I have zero endurance. It's sad, really.

10. I think about things _way_ too much. But that's half the fun.

11. I'm the only person I know in real life who reads fanfic (

ase only half counts...sorry)

12. In every way in which we are not complete opposites, my brother and I are exactly alike. We also tried to kill each other a couple times...but it's hard to inflict lasting damage when you're 12. We get along quite a bit better now that there's a continent between us.

13. I've probably got borderline aspergers syndrome, which means applying people skills requires concious critical thought. I'm not always very vigilant about that. It's a weird place for an actor.

14. I've got several novels inside me...except that I'm afraid they might really just be saturday morning cartoon serials...and I can't draw.

15. I love explaining things to people.

16. I'm smart, but I'm not always the quickest of individuals. It took me almost 25 years to realize that the slats in the lid of a juice pitcher are for catching ice cubes, not for use as an inefficient pulp-strainer (it's one of those thinking too deeply thing).

17. I ate the exact same lunch every day all through school, virtually without fail. There are koalas and pandas with a more varied diet.

18. It gets really odd when your reading vocabulary outstrips the conversational vocabulary of those around you. For years I thought "esoteric" was pronounced "estoteric" because I never bothered to sound it out and never found need to use it in conversation. Ditto words like "Archeopteryx."

19. Eugene is very nearly my ideal environment. I have a hard time imagining living anywhere else. This is radically at odds with the opinions of most of my peers; but that's nothing new.

20. I actually knew what a "meme" was and where it came from years before the internet appropriated the term. I'm strangely proud of this fact.
