I tend not to link for linking's sake...mostly because the html is a pain, but this is just too much to resist.

Sufficed to say, we now have a plausible explanation for the origin of sea serpents. The picture is work-safe only because 9-out-of-10 causal passers-by will have no idea what they're looking at and the 10th will be a whale lover (purely platonic, I'm sure.)

The similarity to ancient myth really is striking...

...and beyond that I have no words. Sometimes the weirdness of the natural world surpasses them.
