For Beth:

Soft Saint Francis,
Playful, coy;

With you I curl,
With me you toy.

How unexpected is this:
Joy.

You are fire
constrained
and therefore cozy.

I warm myself before your hearth,
affectionate heat flowing through me, fluid.

I shall not forget, though,
as I take comfort
in your banked and rosy glow, that
behind your eye, still lurking, I see
the blaze.

My Lady is as change'ble as the sky.
Both glowing sun and blank, grey clouds her gaze
reflects, as passions swirl within and I
stand naked, lost, consumed before her blaze.
Such love and care could take man's breath away,
so fierce the feeling passion of her face.
As in the sunlight from a summer's day
I bask enveloped, buoyed by her grace.
Despite the light, dark clouds may too appear
ad storms do veil her eyes and lightning bite
and thunder roar at those before her here,
then gone again as day succeeds the night.
Life's winds, they might conspire to snuff it out,
Our flame of love, I pray you still won't doubt.

When you're struck by inspiration and scribble 3-4 poems out in one sitting, it's irritating to discover how much repetition of phrase and image you end up using. Still, as stand-alones, they aren't too shabby. Just be glad I've omitted the limerick.
