Dear God in Heaven! I have seen the anti-christ and it is Baby Gundams.

I shit you not.

I don't follow anime, but I watch it occasionally, so I'm familiar with the Gundam Wing series (SF about mobile robot-suits fighting in Near-Earth Space..very plotty). You cannot imagine my shock when I flip through cable channels and discover a show about baby Gundams. Little bite-sized mobile-suits with little bite-sized enemy suits and a kid on magnetic rollerblades as their companion. These aren't just miniatures, these are frickin' neotonous. It is against all laws of Man and Nature.

I mean, Muppet Babies is one thing...

And if this is some sort of Japanese trend, to take a show and make an infantized spin-off, I don't want to know. The possibilities are too horrendous to contemplate.

In other news, watched Riverdance: Geneva on PBS tonight. Enjoyed it muchly. Couldn't help thinking, what with the Celtic themes and whatnot, what a Riverdance/Underhill crossover would look like. Some sort of dance-off competition between the dancers and the Tuatha De Danann with shades of "The Devil Went Down to Georgia". You might even manage to work in the Teind.

As an interesting aside, I looked to Google to find out how to spell Tuatha De Danann Turns out there are two versions: 'Danaan' and 'Danann'. So, being the overly analytical person I am, I went to Googlefight and weighed them against each other. 'Danann' won 11,900 to 6,130. So the 'n' has it.

Speaking of Crossovers, I'm surprised I haven't run across more involving Amber, that fantastic multi-universal creation of Rober Zelazny. There was one mediocre Buffy fic, once, but the universe is so rife with opportunity for plausible crossovers that I'm surprised more people haven't tried. Presumably it just lacks a suitable fan-base, which is too bad. (I've been re-visiting the series, hence this musing).

Finally, two links:

Anyone who has ever watched Angel and does not find this utterly hysterical beyond description is probably not human.

And for those that missed it on Metaquotes, proof that Real Life is stranger than itself:

Vulva Puppets

...as the Great Man once said, "Have you noticed how much they look like orchids? Lovely! ..."

...if, in this context, strange.
