It's amazing what happens when you aren't online all evening every evening. I've read six books in the past five days. I used to do that sort of thing continually, but internet and fanfic have slowed me down (in terms of actual text, I may have sped up, but it's difficult to match fic with book).

Anyway:

Fire Logic by Laurie J. Marks was breath-taking.

Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom by Cory Doctorow was clever.

The Tapir's Morning Bath: Mysteries of the Tropical Rain Forest and the Scientists Who Are Trying to Solve Them by Elizabeth Royte almost made me want to be a naturalist again. Almost.

The Duke of Uranium by Jon Barnes was adventuresome, reminding me, in a good way, of early Heinlein and the fun of SF.

And Paths of the Dead and Lord of Castle Black by Stephen Brust allowed me to revisit the Dragaeran Empire again after a long hiatus and have a rollicking good time in doing so.

Next up: 'The Years of Rice and Salt', which I suspect will take me a tad longer, unless it keeps me from falling asleep tonight.

Edited: Actually, I tell a lie. It was seven books. I also read Justice Hall the latest Sherlock Holmes/Mary Russell book by Laurie R. King. It was much better than most of the rest of the series, saving Beekeeper's Apprentice and Oh, Jerusalem to which this was a sort of sequel. All since Sunday!
